I started learning how to cook authentic Indian food at a young age from my mother and her sisters and learnt much more than how to follow a recipe.

There are so many different techniques for cooking an individual ingredient and even when cooking the same dish time and time again, the flavours can vary. 

That’s why understanding how different cooking techniques change ingredients and the resulting flavour is so important. 

Contrary to some Western understanding of Indian food, spices are not used to hide substandard ingredients but are added for health benefits and to enhance the flavour of a meal.

IKEA Kitchen Trolley Up-cycled...

I love to read IKEA hack posts. They are alway so inspiring. How people can make something look so different with their creative ideas.

Today I am sharing my IKEA upcycled project that I did on this old kitchen trolly that I brought years ago. It was not doing anything at the minute, just stored in the garage until I could think of something to do with it.

Now it will be perfect for BBQ's and Summer entertaining. I am going to make a fun bug patterned table cloth for it now, me thinks. Maybe add a few plant posts on to?

I picked up this solid wood trolly years ago but never really done much with it. I varnished it slightly but as I ran out of varnish, it never got finished. A good job I never got to finish it now or it would have taken even longer to sand down!!

Prosciutto di Parma And Asparagus Quiche...

How beautiful has the weather has been over the last few days? It has got everyone in our house thinking of the Summer holidays. Hopefully, the weather stays the same!! We always make a Summer to do list before the new term starts.

One of the top things on our list this year will be to spend more time in the garden. Plenty of outdoor relaxation with nice food and drink to while away the hours. If you are not shopping or on holiday, quality family time at home always feels better in the fresh air. 

All weekend we have been visiting shops and looking online for some garden furniture. We have picked out exactly what we want, we now have to hope they have them in stock ready for delivery as soon as possible. I can imagine lots of people are buying outdoor furniture now. Will I ever buy in Winter when it's cheaper? Probably not...
