9 Tips For A Perfect Valentines Day Meal At Home...

Are you going out this Valentine's day or are you planning a nice meal at home?

If you are making someone special, a nice romantic meal at home; I have a post for you.

Today I am sharing 9 tips for a perfect Valentine's day meal at home:

1.) Plan ahead:

Jot down your meal ideas in advance in a book, so you can draft up your menu for the night. Search the internet for romantic meal ideas. Starter; check ✔ Dinner; check ✔ Treats; check ✔ and Drink Ideas; check ✔ Cheese and crackers for afters? Chocolates and coffee?

You can find some amazing ideas all over the internet. Cough, Cough { I have loads of ideas here!!}

2.) Have a back up plan:

Have at least 2 ideas for each course planned. (Just in case you cannot source all the items.) Try and make up the recipes a few days before if you can. Helps to know they will be the perfect recipes for the day.

3.) Shop in advance:

Shop for your ingredients a couple or so days before, finalising your menu plans. Nothing worse than starting to make up a recipe and not having one of the ingredients in.

4.) Bake the night before:

Try and make some of the menu up the day before, storing in larder or fridge. Cakes are always better made the day before. The you can finish them with your yummy fillings and topping on the day when nice and cold. Saves stressing about them being warm and not cooling down quick enough.. Especially if you know time may be limited on the day. (Dogs, Kids, Wine distractions etc!)

5.) Plain and simple:

Keep your tableware colours nice and plain. It will soon brighten up with all your food, drinks and accessories. Less is more as they say. Your food and wine will add a beautiful array of colours.

Make sure to leave plenty of room on your table for all your food. Less is more goes out the window where food is concerned!!

6.) Add colourful flowers:

Add a nice big bunch of flowers to the middle of your table. Don not spend too much though, you might get bought some!? Red or pink flowers look beautiful on Valentine's day. A dozen red/pink or coloured roses would look perfect.

7.) Turn off the lights:

Well not all of them off!! Bright main lights off (once all the cooking is done) add a selection of fairy lights candles or tea lights. Or all of them. You can not ever have to many sparkly lights. Make your kitchen look nice and cosy. Bringing that romantic restaurant theme to your home. Nice soft lighting.

8.) Get creative or crafty:

Think outside the box and get creative. Cut out some newspaper hearts. Sprinkle red heart shaped chocolates around. Make some heart shaped bunting.

9.) Pop some romantic music on:

Have some romantic music playing in the background. A variety album of love songs to suit all tastes.

Most of all have fun and enjoy!!!

How do you spend Valentine's day?
