LIATORP Storage Combination With Doors..

Happy Monday!

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted a nice and big Welsh dresser in white for the kitchen. A huge unit to fit at the end of my kitchen to display my love of plates/cups/saucers and cake stands into. Something with lots of glass doors so not to have any dust settling on the shelves.

At the minute I do not too much storage for all my tableware that I love to collect. Things can easily get broken all crammed into the cupboards. I also forget I have things as they are all packed away at the back of the cupboards and never to be seen for years.

Over the last few years, I have been on the lookout for a nice vintage Welsh dresser for my kitchen. The trouble is brand new ones at a 9ft cost around £3,000. Second-hand ones this big are hard to find, and would I also be able to rub it down and repaint it into shabby chic style without ruining it myself!?

I did ruin my kitchen table last year trying this idea out, after all!!

How To Make Red Velvet Heart Beet Pancakes...

Red Velvet Heart Beet Pancakes anyone?

Perfect for Pancake Day and for a lover's Valentine’s Day breakfast.

How To Make Red Velvet Heart Beet Pancakes:

Serves 4

Deliciously fluffy American style pancakes get the Red Velvet treatment with the addition of sweet cooked beetroot.

Just perfect for sharing with that special someone.
Preparation:10 minutes

Cooking: 20 minutes

  • 3 small roasted beetroot, peeled and chopped (about 175g in total)
  • 50ml milk
  • 3 medium eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp Lyles Golden Syrup
  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp Dr Oetker Baking Powder
  • 2 tbsp rapeseed oil for frying

To Serve:
  • 75g cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp Lyles Golden Syrup

You Will Need:

4 heart shaped heat-proof rings measuring around 9cm wide and 8cm long

How To Make This Recipe:

1. Place the beetroot in a bowl along with the milk and blend with a hand blender until perfectly smooth. Alternatively, you could do this in a blender for a smooth result. Once blended add the Golden Syrup, beaten eggs and whisk. Sieve in flour and baking powder and whisk well.

2. Oil your heart shaped rings and add a little oil to a heated frying pan. Place the rings in the pan and spoon some of the mixture in. Nudge the batter around to fill in all of the ring and don't be tempted to overfill.

3. Gently cook for 3-4 minutes until just set, then carefully remove the rings, turn the pancakes over and cook for another 2-3 minutes or until cooked through. Keep warm whilst you cook the remaining pancakes.

4. Meanwhile, combine the cream cheese with the vanilla extract and 1 tbsp of the

Golden Syrup and beat well.

5. To serve, place two hearts on each warmed plate, add a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture and then drizzle with the remaining Golden Syrup.

Chef's Tip:

You can use ready cooked fresh, vac-packed beetroot in natural juices for this dish if you don't have the time to roast your own beetroot. The resulting colour will be a little less vibrant but the flavour will still be great.

Flippin' Fantastic Toffee Apple Pancakes...

Flippin' Fantastic Toffee Apple Pancakes - with NEW Bonne Maman Caramels

Add a fabulous new flavour to your stack of American pancakes this Shrove Tuesday with Bonne Maman's new, luxuriously smooth Caramels.

Gently warm Bonne Maman Salted Caramel or the slightly deeper, nuttier-flavoured Hazelnut Praline Caramel with a splash of apple juice to make a luscious rich toffee apple sauce and then drizzle on top of pancakes and soft fruits for a truly sensational stack.

Bonne Maman Salted Caramel is a deliciously rich caramel lightly seasoned with Guérande sea salt from the North Western coast of France, whilst Hazelnut Praline Caramel offers a deeper, dark and intense caramel, flavoured with lightly toasted hazelnuts.

American Pancakes with Toffee Apple Sauce:

  • 25 ml apple juice
  • 1/2 a jar Bonne Maman Salted Caramel or Hazelnut Praline Caramel
  • 140g self-raising flour
  • 3tbsp caster sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3tbsp butter, melted
  • 125ml whole milk

  1. First make the Toffee Apple Sauce. Put the caramel in a small saucepan with the apple juice and stir together over a low heat for 2-3 minutes, until smooth. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the self-raising flour, caster sugar, baking powder, egg and melted butter.
  3. Once combined, add in the milk and stir until smooth.
  4. Heat a large, non-stick frying pan over a high heat and wipe out the pan with a little extra butter or oil.
  5. Add some of the batter mixture onto the pan and reduce the heat to medium. Wait until the bottom of the pancake is golden brown and flip the pancake over with a fish slice or spatula. Cook for a further 2-3 minutes. Keep warm in the oven while you cook the remaining batter.
  6. Serve the pancakes in a stack, add fruit and pour over the warm Toffee Apple Sauce.

Cooks Tips:
  • Use a piping bag to pipe the mixture for even pancakes.

Watercress, Avocado & Lime Smoothie...

Happy New Year🎉

With the festive season over, a new year stretches ahead full of good intentions with the determination to exercise and eat more healthily key resolutions for many. How good to know then that to keep the second half of this promise is relatively easy with the help of some delicious new recipes featuring the original superfood – watercress.

Watercress (an 80g bag is available for as little as £1 from supermarkets nationwide) is the ‘star’ of smoothies, salads, soups and so much more.

Boasting an incredible 50 vital vitamins and minerals, gram for gram watercress contains more calcium than milk, more Vitamin C than oranges, more folate than a banana and more Vitamin E than broccoli; watercress is a powerhouse of goodness.

But, more than that, over a decade’s worth of medical research has shown powerful links between watercress and the prevention of cancer, as well as the reduction of exercise-induced DNA damage – something that could prove useful if you’re hitting the new year gym too.

So, go ahead, enjoy this great tasting, healthy watercress recipe safe in the knowledge you’re keeping your word and on the way to a healthier you.
